Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Navs HID Direct collects, why we collect it, how long we hold it and what rights you have over it. It is written in plain English deliberately.
Last updated: 29 August 2026
1. Who we are
Navs HID Direct Custom Tuning operates a vehicle security, tuning and diagnostics workshop at 17 Girlington Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD8 9NL. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described in this policy.
You can reach us by phone on 07969 585530 or 01274 317509, or by email at info@navshiddirect.co.uk.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need in order to quote for and carry out work on your vehicle:
- Contact details. Your name, phone number, email address and your stated preference for how we get back to you.
- Vehicle details. Registration number, make, model, year, mileage and any description of a fault you provide.
- Job records. What work was carried out, when, diagnostic readings taken from the vehicle, and where relevant an archived copy of your original ECU or transmission control unit file.
- Security installation records. Where we install an immobiliser, the fact of the installation and its registration reference. We do not store your personal entry sequence.
- Correspondence. Emails, messages and notes of phone conversations relating to your enquiry or your vehicle.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not collect special category data.
3. Why we use it
Your information is used to:
- Prepare an accurate quotation for your specific vehicle
- Contact you about that quotation and arrange an appointment
- Carry out and record the work, and support it under warranty afterwards
- Return a vehicle to its original calibration if you later ask us to
- Issue certification and registration for security installations
- Meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you asked us for a quote.
4. Lawful basis
We rely on contract where processing is necessary to quote for or carry out work you have asked for, on legal obligation for accounting and tax records, and on legitimate interests for keeping job history that allows us to honour a warranty, support a vehicle we have previously worked on, or defend a claim.
Where we rely on legitimate interests we have considered whether that interest is outweighed by your rights, and you may object at any time using the details in section 10.
6. How long we keep it
Quotation enquiries that do not result in work are deleted after twelve months. Job records, invoices and diagnostic reports are kept for six years, which is the period required for tax purposes and appropriate for warranty and liability.
Archived ECU and transmission files are kept indefinitely, because their entire purpose is to allow you to return your vehicle to standard at any point in the future. If you would prefer us to delete yours, tell us and we will, though we will explain first what you lose by doing so.
7. How we protect it
Enquiries submitted through this website are transmitted over an encrypted connection. Access to our records is restricted to the people who need it to do their job, and credentials for any third-party system we use are never stored in the website code that is delivered to your browser.
Paper records held at the workshop are stored securely and destroyed once their retention period has passed.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Ask us to erase data where we no longer have a reason to keep it
- Ask us to restrict how we use your data while a concern is resolved
- Object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests
- Receive certain data in a portable format
We will respond within one month, and there is no charge. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would ask you to raise it with us first so we have a chance to put it right.
10. Contacting us
For any question about this policy, or to exercise any of the rights above, contact us at info@navshiddirect.co.uk, on 07969 585530, or in writing at 17 Girlington Road, Bradford, BD8 9NL.
We review this policy annually and whenever our processing changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
